Most are familiar with Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” But did you know that the words for “Wonderful Counselor” in Isaiah 9:6 are translated without a comma in most Bibles. The reason for this is technical in the Hebrew linguistics, but the word for Wonderful is a common noun masculine singular and the the word for counselor is a participle masculine singular; hence, a comma shouldn’t separate those two words.
So… the next time you read or hear Isaiah 9:6, think of Christ as a “Wonderful Counselor”! What an amazing title for our Savior!
